Aiming to keep my certifications up to date.
From MCSA to Microsoft 365 Certified: Expert
Back in May of 2017, I attained my MCSA: Windows 10 certification from Microsoft. This has now been replaced by the Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate certification with Microsoft’s introduction of role-based Certifications.
After I have attained the Associate level certification, I will then shift to focus on attaining the Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert certification.
As a SOE Technician, I aim to be a verifiable SME in the End User Computing field, I feel that these exams are the best aligned for my current role.
Planning out the exams to pass
As I already have the MCSA: Windows 10 certification I only need to pass the MD-101: Managing Modern Desktops exam to attain the Associate level certification.
Once I have attained the Associate level certification, I will need to pass the following exams to attain the Expert level certification:
This will give me a total of 3 exams that I want to pass in the coming months.
Setting a goal date
Here are the goal dates for the exams
- MD-101 - End of January 2020
- MS-100 - End of March 2020
- MS-101 - End of May 2020
Caveats:
- If I manage to pass any of the above exams prior to the goal, I will re-align the goal date for the next exam/s
- If Microsoft makes changes to the role-based certifications mentioned above, I will re-align my certification goals
I will now need to identify the content that I can use to study for the exams and find any available practice tests for these exams. My next post will cover the courses and practice exams that I will be using for the MD-101 exam.
